The Schubbe Family at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens | Maternity Photography |

The Schubbe family found us on Google and contacted us to shoot their maternity pictures. Allison and I were eager and ready to get back to shooting again after taking some time with Anna. Chris and Candace met us at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna, VA with their amazing dog, Buck (short for Buckingham.) Meadowlark wouldn't allow us in the garden with Buck so we were asked to start on the path that runs the perimeter of the grounds. We weren't too sure how this would work out since the path hugs a main road but, even from the road, Meadowlark delivers! It was fantastic to meet Chris, Candace and Buck and deliver them some beautiful photographs to capture this special moment for their growing family.

Heather & Brian in Leesburg, VA | Maternity Photography

Brian and Heather Ulsh have been long time clients of ours, so when they called us to take some Maternity shots of their soon-to-be family of three, we were all over it. Allison and I had been doing some running around before the holidays and found ourselves in Leesburg, VA for various things; while we were walking the downtown streets one day we mentioned it'd be a great place to try a shoot. The unique buildings and architecture are intriguing, and the quaint "downtown" feel provide a perfect backdrop for photographs. We loved shooting Brian and Heather there, and certainly plan on visiting often for future photo sessions. Here are some of our favorites from our afternoon in Leesburg:

Photographer Note: Over the past few months in my daily blog reading I have seen  a lot about film emulators. The reason I believe, is people (myself included) still yearn for the look and charm of film.  The look film produces has something about it that makes you keep looking at them. Which also might explain peoples fascination with filters...think Instagram.  Companies like VSCO or Visual Supply Company make it possible to transform your photographs into alluring photographs with their film emulators. Check them out! I will say, they are a bit pricey but so far I love them! VSCO also has a free app available! The photographs in this post were enhanced with VSCO's Kodak Portra 400 film emulator.

(Photographers around the world would want me to remind you...if your photo isn't good, not even film emulators will make it better. )
